What Big Bait gear (lure and rod + reel combo) to choose?

The lure's color

When it comes to color, the starting point is the environment. The clearer it is, the more we'll use natural colors; the more opaque it is, the more we'll use flashy tones or dark shades, even going as far as black. This is a base that will need to be adjusted day by day.

The lure's vibration

When it comes to vibration, the noisier the environment, the more we need our lure to be detected, and the more we'll look to emit vibrations through the swimming action and the animation we impart to the lure. The presence or absence of rattles can also be a determining factor. The calmer the environment, the more we can use discreet lures and slow animations.

The rod and reel

It goes without saying that you need suitable equipment to cast these large lures. We have prepared a selection of rods and reels specific to this technique. As for the braid to use, a braid between 25 and 35 lbs (PE2 to PE5) will be necessary. Not so much because there is a real risk of it breaking on a fish, but more to avoid sending a lure flying in the event of a bird's nest.
