Which soft lure to choose?

Colour

When it comes to colour, the starting point is the water clarity. The clearer it is, the more natural tones you should use; the more turbid it is, the more you should go for flashy colours or dark shades, even black. This is a baseline that will need to be adjusted day by day.

Vibration

When it comes to vibration, the noisier the environment, the more you need your lure to be noticed, and the more you will want to emit vibrations through appendages or a more or less pronounced tail. The firmness of the lure's rubber will also play a role. The calmer the environment, the more you can use subtle lures and slow animations.

Size

Size will also be a determining factor. In general, the colder the water, the larger the lure you should use. But you also need to consider the size of the prey and adapt your choice based on what you see beneath the surface and the target species.

Typical sizes by species:
