On a beach, reaching a distant zone can make all the difference. But the philosophy of the Sand Walker is not solely about casting further. The rod must also allow the angler to feel and control their lure at distance, to sense the currents and variations in the underwater relief, to strike effectively, and then to maintain control of the fish all the way to the beaching.

The blank of this new generation therefore adopts a more reactive construction in order to improve casting speed and quality. The rod loads efficiently and delivers a fast release at the moment of the cast, while retaining the bend and reserve necessary for beach fishing.

An action designed for fighting fish in the surf

The flexibility and load-following capacity of the blank were already one of the great qualities of the first-generation Sand Walker. Tenryu chose to preserve this characteristic.

When a fish approaches the shoreline, waves make the fight particularly tricky. A wave can push the fish toward the angler while the backwash can suddenly alter the line tension. Add to this the changes in direction and the final rushes of the fish.

An excessively stiff rod has difficulty absorbing these variations and can encourage hook pulls. Conversely, a rod that is too soft loses precision, casting capacity, and effectiveness when striking at long range.

The PMS1052S-M is the heart of the range and the most versatile model. At ease with plugs, jig heads, and metal jigs, it offers an excellent compromise for covering the majority of situations encountered on beaches. It is naturally the model to choose for the angler looking for a Sand Walker capable of doing everything.

Finally, the PMS1082S-MH delivers more power for heavier lures and more demanding conditions. It is particularly well-suited when the sea is rough, when long distances need to be reached, or when fishing areas that mix sand and shingle. Its superior power also allows it to target harder-fighting fish.

A true distance rod

The new Power Master Sand Walker is therefore not simply a lighter or stiffer version of the previous generation. Tenryu sought to simultaneously improve casting distance, versatility, and fish control, without sacrificing the blank's ability to work when the fight draws close to the shore.
