This size reduces the volume presented. To assess its value at your fishing spot, first maintain a depth and action comparable to those used with a larger model.

The 5-1 model for an intermediate size

At 5 cm with a single crown, the Oppai Sutte 5-1 offers an intermediate size in the range. It provides a larger silhouette while keeping the lure compact.

Keeping two sizes in your tackle box gives you an alternative when bites slow down. Before changing models, however, check that your rig is still working at the right depth.

The 7-1 and 7-2 models for a larger silhouette

The Oppai Sutte 7-1 and 7-2 both measure 7 cm. Their difference lies in the hook setup: one crown for the 7-1 and two for the 7-2.

The numbers after the hyphen therefore indicate the number of crowns, not the weight. Fishing depth depends mainly on the rig and its weighting.

A dropper rig allows you to position Oppai Sutte above a sinker placed at the end of the line. The latter ensures the descent and helps control the rig while drifting.

Leave enough space between the lures to prevent them from touching or snagging each other. Start with a simple rig: it will be easier to handle and monitor.

Adjust the weighting before making multiple changes

Current, depth and boat drift affect the weight required. Aim to maintain clear contact with your rig and regularly return to the water layer you are fishing.

If the line moves away quickly or you lose track of your depth, reassess the weighting. A color change will not compensate for a presentation that no longer passes through the target zone.

Alternate movements and pauses

Make short movements, then pause. Gradually vary their amplitude and rhythm to observe the reactions.

Once you get a bite, try to repeat the same sequence at the same depth. These reference points are often more useful than repeatedly changing lures.

Stay alert to contact

During pauses, watch for a subtle pull, a rod-tip tremble or unusual slack. Compare these signs with the regular movements caused by the boat.

A soft body does not eliminate the need to react to a bite. After setting the hook, maintain steady tension during the retrieve to reduce dropped squid.
