Soft lure ILLEX Deraball

ILLEX Deraball, a compact soft lure for pike fishing

The ILLEX Deraball is a mini swimbait soft lure especially suited to targeting pike. Its compact body and highly mobile tail produce strong vibrations and displace plenty of water, two qualities that are particularly useful for attracting the attention of predatory fish.

Very easy to use, the Deraball can be fished with a straight retrieve. Just cast it out and reel it in for its tail to start working immediately. This ease of use lets you search an area quickly or make repeated casts around likely pike holding spots.

An effective mini swimbait for weed beds and shorelines

The ILLEX Deraball is particularly well suited to fishing for pike in weed beds, along shorelines and in shallow water. Its compact profile makes it easy to work snaggy spots where predators take cover.

Its high density gives it excellent casting performance despite its small size. It also makes skipping easier—a technique that bounces the lure across the surface to send it under branches or overhanging foliage and into hard-to-reach spots.

This ability to reach spots that receive less fishing pressure is a real advantage when pike are holding in cover.

Enticing swimming action and powerful vibrations

A tail that displaces plenty of water

The Deraball’s tail works actively on the retrieve and generates strong vibrations. This water displacement helps predators detect the lure, especially when visibility is poor or fish are hidden in vegetation.

It requires no complicated technique to fish. A straight retrieve is enough to make full use of its action, making it a useful lure for covering water quickly.

High density for accurate casts

With its dense body, the ILLEX Deraball casts easily and can be placed accurately where pike are holding. It is particularly suited to searching around shorelines, gaps in weed beds and cover.

To explore deeper water, you can also add a bullet weight in front of the lure to increase its sink rate.

ILLEX Deraball line-through rigging

The Deraball uses line-through rigging. The leader passes directly through the lure’s body before connecting to the treble hook positioned underneath it.

During the fight, the lure can slide up the line and away from the fish’s mouth. This reduces strain directly on the lure and helps extend its usable life.

The treble hook is attached to a rolling swivel so it can rotate freely during the fight, helping reduce the risk of losing a hooked fish.

Which leader should you use with the Deraball?

For pike fishing, the Deraball can be rigged with a sufficiently strong fluorocarbon leader or a steel leader. Choose the material according to fishing conditions and the presence of pike in the area.

Why choose the ILLEX Deraball soft lure?

Compact, dense and especially easy to use, the ILLEX Deraball soft lure is an effective way to search pike holding spots. Its vibrating action, ease of casting and suitability for skipping let you target fish in open water as well as along shorelines and weed beds.

It is a particularly useful choice when predators are holding in vegetation or beneath cover and you need a compact lure that can be placed precisely where they are.
