Shimano Vanford spinning reels
The Shimano Vanford spinning reel range, designed for technical fishing, offers lightness, smoothness and precision, ideal for targeting trout, perch, zander, pike and sea bass.
The Vanford stands out with its CI4+ body and rotor, ensuring robustness and lightness. The MagnumLite rotor (MGL) reduces rotational inertia, providing increased responsiveness. The MicroModule II and SilentDrive technologies guarantee smooth and silent rotation. The HAGANE gear and X-Ship system enhance power and durability. The X-Protect protection keeps internal components shielded from water and impurities.
Versatile, the Vanford suits a wide range of fishing techniques, in both freshwater and saltwater. It excels in technical fishing, such as linear fishing with hard and soft lures. The quality of the materials and the smoothness of its mechanics make it perfect for fishing requiring finesse and sensitivity.

Which reel to choose?
Rod balance
Choose a reel suited to your rod — one that will balance the rod while also allowing you to cast the lures intended for the rod's power rating.
Spool diameter
The spool diameter is a determining factor for a spinning reel. It must match the size and positioning of the rod's first guide ring. The larger the first guide ring, the larger the spool diameter needs to be. The further the first guide ring is from the reel seat, the larger the reel must be.
The gear ratio
Another important point is the retrieval ratio. A standard ratio is 75-80 cm of line retrieved per crank turn. You will therefore need to choose your reel's ratio based on the fishing techniques you wish to use.
