The Illex Freddy 170 CW is a silent jointed swimbait-type lure, and more precisely a glide bait. On a straight retrieve it has an ultra-seductive "S" swimming action. If you twitch it or work it in "Stop & Go" style, it will make lateral darts of varying lengths. It is the perfect lure to prospect shallow or deeper areas with the addition of an additional weight on the belly swivel.

The action

• On a straight retrieve, simply cast and reel in and the lure will swim on its own thanks to its jointed body.
• In Stop & Go, pause your retrieve and the lure will make a lateral dart. Deadly for triggering the strike of a following fish.
• With twitches, punctuating your retrieve with sharp movements of your rod tip, the Freddy 170 CW will make lateral darts like a jerkbait. To make these darts longer, leave a little slack in your line.

The color

When it comes to color, the starting point is the environment. The clearer it is, the more you should use natural colors; the more turbid it is, the more you should use flashy or dark shades, even going as far as black. This is a base that should be adjusted day by day.
