Lure weight

To choose your rod wisely, you must first take into account the weight of the lures you will be casting. The maximum weight must not exceed the lure weight range specified for the rod.

Rod length

As for length, a boat rod will be rather short (up to around 2.30 m) in order to stay within the sonar beam, but also because, unlike a rod for fishing far from the bank which will be rather long (from 2.40–2.50 m), you will have less need to navigate around obstacles, cast into the wind, etc.
