Adam's Sabot jig head

Triangular lead predator rig

The Adam's Sabot jig head is one of the essential rigs in the Adam's range for predator fishing with soft lures. Its distinctive triangular shape, commonly referred to by anglers as a "sabot" (clog), gives it exceptional stability and bottom grip, making it well suited to both linear techniques and vertical jigging.

The sabot shape — why is it so effective?

The triangular lead weight, or sabot, has a flat face that rests on the bottom during pause phases. This design prevents the lure from tipping onto its side and maintains a natural vertical presentation that maximises predator attraction. At the moment of the hook set, the geometry of the lead facilitates hook penetration thanks to precise alignment between the head and the lure.

Compared to a classic round jig head, the sabot head also generates more turbulence with each lift off the bottom, creating an additional water displacement effect that is perceptible to the lateral line of fish.

Attractor colours: Red Devil, Black Devil and Green Chart Devil

The Adam's Sabot range is available in several head colours designed to suit different conditions and target species. The Red Devil colour, with its bright red head, is particularly effective in coloured water or low-light conditions. The Black Devil offers a contrasted silhouette for clear water. The Green Chart Devil combines fluorescent chartreuse — the ultimate attractor colour — with high visibility in all conditions.

Weight range for all fishing contexts

Adam's Sabot jig heads are available in a wide range of weights, from 7g to 28g, to suit all depths and all types of current. General rule in lure fishing: count approximately 7 to 10g per metre of depth to maintain proper contact with the bottom during a slow retrieve. The heaviest models (21g and 28g) are ideal for large rivers and deep reservoirs.

Compatibility with Adam's and market soft lures

The Sabot jig head is compatible with the full range of Adam's soft lures, including the Yadori 3D in all sizes, as well as shads and grubs from many other brands. The hook, available in several sizes depending on the weight, is matched to the size of the lures used to ensure optimal hook sets.

Fishing tips with the Sabot jig head

The Sabot jig head lends itself particularly well to bottom-hugging linear fishing with short retrieves interspersed with pauses. In rivers, let it drift with the current while maintaining light contact with the head to detect bottom strikes. In lakes or reservoirs, vertical jigging from a boat positioned above drop-offs is one of the most deadly techniques with this rig.
