Lure weight

To choose your rod correctly, you must first take into account the weight of the lures you are going to cast. The maximum weight must not exceed the intended casting range for the rod.

Rod length

Then, regarding length, a boat rod will tend to be shorter (up to around 2.30 m) to stay within the sonar beam for example, but also because, unlike a rod designed for fishing far from the bank which will tend to be longer (from 2.40–2.50 m), you will have less need to cast around obstacles, cast into the wind, etc.
