If you have any questions about choosing a rod, the appropriate rigs for your fishing area, or the type of line (braid, nylon, fluorocarbon) to fit on your reel, do not hesitate to contact us via our website, by phone, or by visiting us in person at our Ardent Pêche store.

Which spinning reel should you choose?

Rod balance

Choose a reel suited to your rod — that is, a reel that will balance the rod, but also one that will allow you to cast the lures intended for the rod's power rating.

Spool diameter

For a spinning reel, the spool diameter is an important point — it must be in line with the size and positioning of the rod's first guide. The larger the first guide, the larger the spool diameter should be. The further the guide is from the reel seat, the larger the reel should be.

The retrieve ratio

Another important point is the retrieve ratio. A standard ratio is 75-80 cm of line retrieved per handle turn. You should therefore choose your reel's ratio based on the fishing techniques you wish to use.

Choosing a quality spinning reel means maximising your chances of success on the water. Whether you fish from the bank, in a kayak or from a boat, our models combine lightness, durability and precision for an optimal fishing experience. Make the right choice, equip yourself like a pro and turn every outing into a memorable session!
