Which casting reel to choose?

Rod balance

Choose a reel suited to your rod, meaning a reel that will balance the rod, but also one that will allow you to cast the lures intended for the rod's power rating.

The bearings

For a casting reel, the crucial point is the spool's rotation capacity. The smoother the rotation and the lower the resistance to rotation, the further you will be able to cast and with lighter lure weights. It is therefore important to look closely at the number and quality of the bearings in the reel.

The ratio

Another important point is the retrieve ratio. A classic ratio is 75-80cm of retrieve per handle turn. You will therefore need to choose the ratio of your reel according to the fishing techniques you wish to use.
