Which rod to choose?

Lure weight

To choose your rod wisely, you must first take into account the weight of the lures you will be casting. The maximum weight must not exceed the intended casting range for the rod.

Rod length

As for length, a boat rod will tend to be shorter (up to around 2.30m) in order to stay within the sonar beam, for example, but also because — unlike a rod intended for fishing far from the bank, which will tend to be longer (from 2.40–2.50m) — there will be fewer obstacles to navigate around, less casting into the wind, etc.
