Description

Tenryu Ikagami TR 68 MH – Precision and control for boat eging

Specially developed for boat fishing for European cephalopods, the Tenryu Ikagami TR 68 MH showcases all Japanese expertise applied to our conditions. Designed to target squid and cuttlefish that are less aggressive than their Japanese counterparts, it offers a softer and more progressive action, perfectly suited to subtle and controlled animations. Its remarkable resonance transmits the slightest take, while retaining sufficient power reserve for effective hook-sets at great depth.

Balanced and lively, the TR 68 MH excels in animating Egi Type Run sizes 3.0 to 3.5 (up to 45 g), and proves deadly in vertical Tataki fishing with Ika Metal lures (up to 120 g). A true extension of the arm, it allows fine reading of takes and total line control, even in strong currents. Finally, its fairly rounded action will help reduce squid drop-offs during the retrieve.

Specifications:

  • Length: 2.03 m
  • Number of sections: tip + butt (packed length: 165 cm)
  • Power: Egi 3.0 to 3.5 / Ika Metal up to 120 g

The Ardent Pêche team's advice:

Pair the TR 68 MH with a 2500 or 3000 reel loaded with thin braid (PE 0.6 to 0.8) to make the most of its sensitivity. The fineness of the braid allows better water penetration and an incomparable feel. It excels during boat drifts, when alternating between light animations and drop phases to trigger takes. Its forgiving action reduces hook pulls, even with the most active squid where hook-ups can be uncertain.

The Tenryu Ikagami TR 68 MH was designed to meet the precise demands of eging practised from a boat, an approach where mobility and the verticality of animations play a key role. Unlike shore fishing, this technique allows different depths to be worked and often deeper or more scattered squid to be targeted. In this context, the TR 68 MH offers the ideal balance between sensitivity and control, making it possible to feel the slightest take while maintaining a soft action suited to European cephalopods. Its design ensures a perfect reading of the bottom and optimal effectiveness during slow drifts or the vertical animations typical of boat eging.
