Which spinning reel to choose?

Rod balance

Choose a reel suited to your rod, meaning a reel that will balance the rod, but also one that will allow you to cast the lures intended for the rod's power rating.

Spool diameter

For a spinning reel, the spool diameter is an important point — it must match the size and positioning of the first guide on the rod. The larger the first guide, the larger the spool diameter should be. The further the first guide is from the reel seat, the larger the reel should be.

The ratio

Another important point is the retrieve ratio. A standard ratio is 75-80cm of line retrieved per handle turn. You should therefore choose the ratio of your reel according to the fishing techniques you wish to use.
