Description

Penn Slammer IV spinning reels

The Penn Slammer IV series stands out for its fully metal construction and CNC brass gear system, ensuring exceptional durability. IPX6 water resistance protects the reel against water intrusion, even in extreme conditions. The Slammer® drag system with Dura-Drag™ delivers smooth and consistent braking power, while the 8+1 stainless steel bearings guarantee smooth retrieval. A hydrophobic line roller bearing and an interchangeable EVA handle complete this highly capable package.

Designed for saltwater fishing, these reels are suited to a wide range of lure techniques — whether fishing from shore, by boat, or by kayak. Their robustness and power make them ideal allies for targeting species such as sea bass, bonito, or tuna.

Which reel should you choose?

Rod balance

Choose a reel suited to your rod — one that will balance the rod, but also allow you to cast the lures intended for the rod's power rating.

Spool diameter

Spool diameter is a key factor for a spinning reel. It must be in line with the size and position of the rod's first guide ring. The larger the first ring, the larger the spool diameter should be. The further the ring is from the reel seat, the larger the reel should be.

The ratio

Another important factor is the retrieval ratio. A standard ratio is 75–80 cm of retrieval per crank handle turn. You should therefore choose your reel's ratio based on the fishing techniques you plan to use.

If you have any questions about choosing a rod, the rigs suited to your fishing area, or the type of line (braid, nylon, fluorocarbon) to put on your reel, don't hesitate to contact us via our website, by phone, or by visiting us in person at our Ardent Pêche store.
