Adjustment is carried out simply via an external brake dial, which moves the magnets closer to or further from the spool depending on the desired braking level. The major advantage of this design is the absence of moving parts on the spool itself, which promotes very free rotation and requires very little energy at the start of the cast.

The Curado BFS's ultra-lightweight, shallow spool plays a central role in its performance. It is designed to start up quickly, with minimum inertia, in order to effectively propel lures that conventional casting reels often struggle to handle.
