The Illex Freddy 170 CatWalk Noisy is an articulated noise-making swimbait-type crankbait and more precisely a glidebait. On a straight retrieve it has an ultra-enticing "S" swimming action. If you twitch it or work it in a "Stop & Go" fashion it will perform wider or narrower lateral glides. It is the perfect lure for prospecting shallow or deeper areas with the addition of an additional weight on the belly swivel.

The retrieve

• On a straight retrieve, simply cast and reel in and the lure will swim on its own thanks to its articulation.
• In Stop & Go, pause your retrieve and the lure will perform a lateral glide. Deadly for triggering an attack from a following fish.
• With twitches, by punctuating your retrieve with sharp movements of your rod tip, the Freddy 170 CW Noisy will perform lateral glides like a jerkbait. To make these glides longer, leave a little slack in your line.

The colour

As for colour, the starting point will be water clarity. The clearer it is, the more natural tones you should use; the more opaque it is, the more flashy or dark shades — even black — you should reach for. This is a base to adjust depending on the day.
