Which Egi-oh F size should you choose?

Sizes 3 and 3.5 to build your selection

The size 3 Egi-oh F weighs 15 g, compared with 20 g for size 3.5. Yamashita states a sink rate of 3 seconds per meter for both formats.

Choose according to your rod’s power range, the desired lure profile and the conditions encountered. A larger size is not automatically more suitable: you need to be able to cast comfortably, work your egi and maintain enough contact to follow its progress.

Sizes 2 and 2.5 to reduce the profile presented

Egi-oh F models are also available in sizes 2 and 2.5, weighing 6.5 g and 10 g respectively, with a stated sink rate of 5.5 seconds per meter.

These small formats offer a more compact profile. Before reducing size, however, make sure you can still reach the target area and follow your line despite wind or current.

The stated rates are used to compare models. At your fishing spot, depth, line tension and water movement affect the time needed to reach the bottom.

How do you choose colors for your egi?

Build a box with complementary colors

A useful selection should allow you to change presentations. You can pair a natural finish with a brighter or more contrasting color, then compare reactions at the same spot.

Avoid changing size, color and action pace at the same time on every cast. By changing only one parameter at a time, you will more easily understand what improves your fishing.

Egi-oh F models have a Transparent Glow body, including those with natural finishes. The outer appearance and body effect are therefore two distinct criteria.

After casting, let your egi sink toward the target water layer. Then make a short series of rod movements, followed by a pause to let it sink again.

Start with measured movements. The aim is to understand the sequence between working the lure and sinking while maintaining control of your line. You can then vary the movement amplitude and pause duration.

Watch the line during the sink

Take the time to identify your line’s normal behavior. Unusual tension, sideways movement or sudden slack can indicate contact.

These changes can also come from the bottom, wind or current. By repeating your casts in the same area, you will learn to distinguish normal variations from anomalies that require a response.
