Which Daiwa reel to choose?

Rod balance

Choose a reel suited to your rod, meaning a reel that will balance the rod, but also one that will allow you to cast the lures intended for the rod's power rating.

Bearings

For a casting reel, the crucial point is the spool's rotation capacity. The smoother this rotation and the lower the resistance to rotation, the farther you will be able to cast and with lighter lure weights. You should therefore pay close attention to the number and quality of the bearings in the reel. For a spinning reel, this is also an important point.

Spool diameter

The spool diameter is a determining factor for a spinning reel. It must be in line with the size and positioning of the rod's first guide ring. The larger the first guide ring, the larger the spool diameter should be. The farther the guide ring is from the reel seat, the larger the reel should be.

The ratio

Another important point is the retrieve ratio. A standard ratio is 75-80cm of line retrieved per handle turn. You should therefore choose the ratio of your reel based on the fishing techniques you want to use.
